استعدادًا لاستقبال شهر الأحزان، شهر محرم الحرام، تم في العتبة الحسينية المقدسة غسل قبة مرقد الإمام الحسين (عليه السلام)، وذلك تحضيرًا لرفع راية الحزن السوداء.
كذلك تم فرش صحن مرقد الإمام الحسين (عليه السلام) بالكاربت الأحمر استعدادًا لمراسيم عاشوراء.
